Engine back fire

Default Engine back fire

I have an engine back fire problem... my engine light dont come up, not showing at thing.. but i can hear my car strugling... exhaust pumping out sounds like po po po bah bah... haha sorry its just hard to explain... i bet if i remove the intake.. i can see fire coming out.. it happened long time ago. but it was as bad and it went away ... now its coming back and its eefecting the driving... my car feel like its got no power at low rpm, and with that annoying sound, for those who had engine back fire problems how did you guys fix it??? is it bacause the car is running too rich?? how did you fix that?? any comments would be approciated.. thankyou

is it a backfire or a misfire? I say check timing, touch your injectors and make sure they are ticking, check your spark plug wires and distributor.

Have you tried a leakdown test? It could be a bad valve.

If I'm correct backfire means fuel is not being ignited in the engine and gets expelled into the header->downpipe->exhaust pipe where it is ignited by the hot header/pipe.
check plugs, plug wires and timing
gaps could be wrong on your plugs
