Icon2 Eg hatch help!!

Wassup guys I bought a eg hatch shell as project, swapped my b20v
In it an it turned on couple times . But yesterday I was hooking up all the back lights and wires started smoking from rear driver side light. Disconnected
The battery an checked wires and there were kinda burned but should work.
Try turning the key and none of the lights work anymore on dash except hazards
And when I turn the key I hear fuel pump but no crank at all
An no lights on dash just battery light. Anyone know what it can be?

Help appreciated!

You had a short to ground at the rear lighting or wiring to it.

When a wire burns in a harness it takes other wires with it, causing more shorts.

You will need to start by replacing/repairing the damage harnesses. 94

Where to start? Anywhere the wires are burned/damaged in the harness.

A short, somewhere along the wiring harness, [wiring you connected before the problem] "I was hooking up all the back lights" a power lead made contact with a ground, either the cars chassis or a ground lead in the harness, it may also be something you mis-wired. 94

What part of, "you have a short" do you not understand.????

The fuse(s) will keep blowing, [and did in the first place] because of the short.

Fix the short and the fuse(s) will stop blowing. 94

Why would you? Fuses for exterior lighting or shorts in the interior harness has has nothing to do with sensors on the engine. Hence..."check engine light"

Do as suggested above. Sound advice that isnt hard to comprehend.

Actually it can be related.

What I think OP is saying is the CEL is not turning on when he turns on the ign., like it should, for a few sec. while fuel pump is priming.

If wiring is damaged, the ECU/ECM may not be getting power or ground, it may not be getting IGP 1&2 "signals" from the PGM-FI Main Relay, the PGM-FI Main Relay itself may not be getting power or ground.

There is no way to know what the problem is, [other then there is a short and wiring has been damaged] then to remove the harnesses find and repair the damage or replace the harness. 94
