i know this sounds dumb but you did check to make sure the bulb is in correctly and are you blowing fuse repeatedly?
It happen to me once where the bulb was no incorrectly and I kept on blowing fuses, problem was corrected after I triple checked everything.

Well, on a manual trans there's a switch on the trans housing that depresses a "button" to activate the reverse lights. Not sure where or if the auto trans would have one...maybe under the shift console?

did you connect the reverse light switch properly? Did you use a manual harness? The manual engine harness has to interface with the automatic ECU/interior harness. Get a wiring diagram.

it's not a swap, the car is still automatic.

if the bulbs and fuse have been replaced and you've double checked them to make sure they are correct and correctly installed, then i would take a volyage meter and double check the wires. you want to make sure there are no breaks or shorts. not sure if the auto's have a reverse switch like manual trannies, but if so you might want to replace it.
