Default ECU PROBLEMS!!

Hey guys, just got a new ecu with a zif socket. Plugged it in but when i turn it on the check light comes on and wont go off, and also there is a resistor that wont let me pass 4,000rpm any ideas to what this could be and how i could resolve it? Car is a 93 honda civic hatch sir2(b16a2) and the ecu is odb1 p28, thanks

Is there a chip in the socket? Make sure it's installed properly, the notch in the end of the chip should point towards the connector side of the ecu. Make sure there are no bent pins, and nothing was screwed up when it was chipped. If everything looks ok, it may be a bad chip.

Yes. With the connectors where you plug the ECU into the car on your left, the notch in the chip should also be facing to the left.
