ecu chipping screw-up
ok..so I got my ecu back from the soldering guy today... he was supposed to solder the eprom socket and capacitor and all that goo for mu uberchip... well, he ended up finishing the job about 5 hours more than he estimated it would take, and he did a hell of a number on the bottom side of the board. solder and burn marks are all over the place
. but, trying anyway, I slapped it in and wallah, it started, but with a 3k rpm limit and a constant CEL. idles like crap too. there's an arrow on the eprom chip that either faces towards the center of the ecu or away from the center... I assumed the arrow points inwards, isn't that right?

if you can't rev past 3k rpm then you got serious problem, as the ECU goes to read from backup chip. so its either the soldering work or the chip not being the postioned/inserted the right way or simply wrong chip for the application (i doubt blake would make that mistake )

soldering is a piece of cake, it's pretty easy just to solder something together, but doing a good job at it takes some practice. if you said that there are burn marks on the back side of the board, most likely something isn't right. i deal with circut cards everyday. the chip that goes on the socket could even be damaged, my suggestion is to give it back to the guy that did it so that he can fix it. if your ecu was working before you gave it to him, you would expect it to be working correctly when you got it back.
holy crap...I was freaked out all night because I thought my chip was in backwards.. but no, I think it's good. that bum who soldered it is getting a visit today. If I wanted burn marks, I could have soldered it myself...
