is it easy to replace wheel stud?
one of the wheel stud of my 2000 SiR is damaged and i already bought a new stud. a shop told me that the old stud should be pressed out by a machine shop, is this true? can it be a DIY?
its an easy diy job. remove wheel, etc to expose the hub and knock it out with a hammer, then insert the new stud and torque the lugnut onto it w/o wheel to seat the stud.
I wouldn't say it's easy. I don't know about EK's, but on my EG there is a slight recess at the 6 o'clock position on the knuckle. Turn the hub until the broken stud is at the 6 o'clock postion, then hammer it out. You'll have to remove the dust sheild first.
The new stud goes in the same way, but since it's longer, you'll find it more difficult. Just take your time and be patient. If you start beating and banging the thing in, you'll damage the threads.
