Civic Wheel Stud Replacement
On my 2000 Civic an idiot tire dealer used an impact wrench and stripped the thread so bad the stud broke removing the wheel. This was even after instructing them not to use impact wrenches.
So my question is, is there any way to replace the studs on the front without removing the hub. It appears there is not enough room. I did see a suggestion of grinding a notch in the hub, but I am leery of this.

yes, its possible....if you don't mind cutting a little...
once you remove the wheel and caliper, you'll see an aluminum shield...which you can cut a notch out of. then take a good size hammer and bang the old stud out...
you'll see how it comes out, but with some resistance....so when installing the new lug grind off part of the head so it slides past the hub easier....then hammer it in and you're good to go.
i've done this twice as i had two lugs fail right after an auto-x. (the wheel must have stripped the lug...as i didn't have them tight enough i think...not really sure as i didn't cross thread them)
