drilling rotor screws

when you drill out a screw, what are you actually doing? Are you using the drill to turn the the screw into metal shaving and no longer a screw...I can not get my rotors off and needed to the last time I changed pads.

you end up drilling off the head of the screws. then you can remove the rotor completely. and use a vice grip to take whats left of the threads in the hub.
ive had to do this before i got an impact driver. impact drivers certainly are the right way to take em out. but if its already stripped, you just gotta drill em out. (chisel method can work too)
