Does winter climates really affect gas mileage THAT much?
I've been avg about 20-22mpg last couple of months. Now I live on the eastcoast and lately its been cold as sheeiit around here.. probably around 20-40 degrees everyday. I heard cold weather hurts gas mileage a lot but I should be getting more like 26-28mpg according to what other peeps with b16As are telling me... I do mostly highway driving and I shift before 4k at all gears but I'll run it to 8k maybe once or twice per day.. I'm just trying to see if this is normal because of cold weather or maybe I should check somthing else?
Do you have a chipped p28? Those usually give bad mpg. Mine gets about the same miliage you're talking about (20-22mpg) with that setup.
During the winter months, gas stations use oxygenated fuel. This could be a cause to the bad gas mileage. Another thing is when you first start up the car, it goes into its high idle, another probable cause.

How can you tell if you're buying oxygenated or not? Does that stuff wear out your O2 sensor faster?
