Default Do you really this mount/bracket

On my 99 civic it has a bracket that the a/c compressor used to be mounted to. since the a/c compressor is now gone is there really any use for that bracket. Its a pretty big bracket and would save a few pounds(every little bit helps). Thanks again everyone.

Uh, yeah. It's also a motor mount.

All the bracket does is mount the AC, so no it won't be needed anymore.

Huh? It holds the motor in the car too. You have to have it unless you want to drive around with your engine crooked and boucing off the pavement. Yes, the AC compressor bolts to it. But it's main purpose is that of an engine mount.

You're on crack. It's also the mount for the drivers lower torque bushing that attaches the engine to the frame.

If it wasn't necessary, do you think the factory would have included it?

It's a motor mount, use it. Lose the weight elsewhere, don't shed a few pounds by removing a mount that holds your motor to the rest of the car.

you can chop the mount in half if you want to save weight...just cut it right along the line where the 2 bolts near the outside go. That way you still have 2 bolts into your block and your still useing the mount. By the way, its not used on a crx because they run a front trany mount.
