Default distributer problem?

would a rough idle and backfiring be caused by a bad distributer? the timing is set to tdc, the plugs and wires are fine, the ignition coil resistance checks out fine, and the cap is new. the rotor looks fine but will buy a new one. any suggestions?

Sounds like you're running too rich or too lean?

every once in a while it says 74 which is #4 misfire, but i have a d16y7 that i had just swapped in and when i tried to start it up, it just had a very low idle and backfires like a madman. i've checked the resistance on the coil and checked the ignition control module, but they are good. i can't drive it like it is because it won't stay running
