Dist. questions, OBD2 converted to OBD1, or replacing CYP sensor...
i have a 95 GSR distributor with a faulty CYP sensor (code #9 from the CEL/ECU).
if it's possible i'd like to replace the CYP sensor so i can use it again. but i doubt that's possible from what i've heard so far.
anyone who has tried this or knows whether or not it can be done please respond.
if i can't replace the sensor inside then i'll have to buy a new dist., and i was thinking of picking up an OBD2 DOHC VTEC dist. since they're much more common than the 94-95 OBD1 dist. then i could rewire it and/or install the OBD1 plugs to make it work with my OBD1 setup. but again i've never tried this either so i'm kinda in the dark as to if it's possible at all.
any input on the dist. swapping would be appreciated too.
thanks

i switched the plug on mine..just use a pick to pull out the individual plugs from the 2plug OBD1 and plug into OBD2 1 plug harness.

OBD1 sohc & dohc distributors share the same internals, what differs is the outter body design and cap. Same goes for OBD2 sohc & dohc dizzy's.
ok, cool. i appreciate all the input!
so if i pick up an OBD2 dist., all i need to do is swap the OBD1 plugs that i have onto it?
thanks
