Default A DIFFERENT CTR piston in B16 question (I promise!).

I know that many of you are running this setup without any interferance problems. My question can be answered in a couple of ways.

1. How far down (in thousandths of an inch) do stock B16 pistons sit in the cylinder at TDC. I am talking about the head/perimiter of the piston and NOT the dome.

OR

2. How far up (in thousandths of an inch) do CTR pistons stick out of the cylinder at TDC. Once again the piston head and not the piston dome.

This is with stock rods, stock crank and stock deck height.

The reason I ask is because, as many of you know, the CTR piston is 30 thousandths higher from the center of the wrist pin to the top of the piston head (not the dome). I want to make sure that the piston is not going to stick too far out of the cylinder or come up with a way to compensate for this if it does.

Thanks guys.

Anyone know where I would be able to find out?

My Helms manual doesn't have the information.

If you have a shortblock and a feeler guage I will take a good guestamate!

So where are all the people runing this setup??? Let me guess, you all went to the 1.8L block and don't remember what the measurments were!

Well I'm sticking with the 1.6L for now so if anyone can help that would be great.

I am running CTR slugs in a B16a. The CTR pistons do stick out of the hole, but it not much. Do you have a milled head?

Head is not milled and block has not been decked. I think that a stock head gasket is only about 30 thousandths thick so I am hope they only stick out about 20 thousandths or so.

Thanks for the infor EKhatch. I can't help you because I don't know, but you're on the right track. Stock headgasket should be cool for just about any cam set up to go along with it. If you're worried, TODA offers thicker headgaskets.

B16a block, CTR pistons, factory rods and crank, runs great. i get no valve clash and picked up a lot of power from stock. do it and throw some nasty cams in there....youll love it!!!!
