Default Difference between long and short block B16's.

Is there a difference? proformance the same? displacement? just need a quick answer.

-Short block means just the bottom of the motor. (block, pistons, ect.)

-Long block is the entire motor including the head.

There is no difference in displacement, ect. Its just terminonlogy.

Look at it this way. A B16 would be considered a short block and a B18 would be considered a long block

I actually feel dumber after reading this thread. A short block consists of a complete block, no head, a long block is the complete head and block, usually this involves the exhaust manifold, not always though. And a distributor. Use the search from now on.

Long block is block and head.
