Re: Difference between Cross drilled and slotted rotors (lliew)
One has holes and one has slits.
j/k.. um.. there's not much difference, neither really does anything except increase pad wear and decrease braking performance, and I believe cross drilled are quite prone to cracking.
You're much better off just getting oversized blanks if you want new rotors. http://www.fastbrakes.com makes some awesome brake kits for Honda's

Re: Difference between Cross drilled and slotted rotors (Cow)
I just heard that cross drilled are prone to cracking too. So you wouldn't go with slotted rotors huh?
Thanks for the reply.

slotted rotor help the gases from the pads escape. But in todays pads people say they don't produce that much gas. Thats what i heard.

Re: Difference between Cross drilled and slotted rotors (speedymon)
Well there is the obvious difference between one having holes and the other having slots. Then there is the difference between performance.
The cross drilled are suppossed to eleminate brake fade that is caused by gasses that get trapped between the pads and rotor. However as previously stated, modern pads don't generate that much gas. In theroy they don't work as well because the material that is missing due to the holes, there is less surface area but honestly I don't feel that it makes that big of a difference if any. I have crossed drilled rotors on my car and the difference was quite notable. I have very little to no brake fad and they stay cooler longer.....and I drive moutain roads twice a day.
Slotted rotors are suppossedly better than cross drilled. The slots let gasses escape just like the cross drilled, but since there is more surface area, the thinking is that these will stop you quicker.....however I doubt it makes that much of a difference. The whole cracking thing with the cross drilled rotors is a joke. Only if you're being insane and just going off on your breaks will you somehow find a way to crack them.
Its really a matter of preference. Just pick what you think looks good.

Re: Difference between Cross drilled and slotted rotors (SuperDuperEG)
I used to believe in slotted rotors, but recently I've been hearing from people that they aren't any improvement over blanks.
Then I saw a Maclaren production video...
Well, the Maclaren F1 uses cross-drilled Brembo's. I'm a believer
