del sol VTI trouble....
I was wondering if anyone could assist me with my problem...I have a '93 delsol import (SiR) and a '93 del sol UK spec (VTI). The latter of which being the slowest..my main concern is why this is and what I can do to give me more power in my UK version. Im sure to you guys this is basic but I would appreciate your patients.
I am also looking for a chip/chips to suit this car should this be a wise idea.
Thanks

Well I believe the SiR to be 168bhp or 170bhp whichever it is...Are Japanese imports known as JDM? If so its one of those. However my UK car is a straight 160bhp. Ive heard several different stories on this from the jap having a different head, pistons, cams, ecu and also it having an LSD.I would like it clearing up with advice maybe on what I should take off the Jap version and put onto the UK. The jap one had a vtec controller fitted also which is going to be swapped shortly. I know im asking alot but id also like to source a similar chip a friends got which basically makes the vtec kick earlier and rev slightly later, around 9000rpm I believe. Any advice on any of these subjects would be much appreciated.
Again...Thanks.
Again...Thanks.
the jap version usually has cams since it is a SIR and as far as the chip you can usually buy those or go to a race shop and have them chip yours. i know in my old hatchback my ecu was tuned by erics racing hope i answered your questions
misinformation is rampant in this thread.
Both vehicles have the SAME engine, Same cams, SAME pistons and Same gearing.
The UKDM ver. and the JDM ver. most likely are running the same ECU's also. I would look at the ECU's code and see if it is the same or not.......they will most likely be P30 ECU's.
The only thing that I could see that would make the UKDM version slower is becasue of the ECU differences (possibly) or how the engine was treated/maintained by the previous owner.
