Default Defective O2 sensor, safe for motor on track?

Right now, the motor hesitates occasionaly and the O2 sensor seems to be the problem. Won't be able to get a new one on time. Should I keep driving on the race track with a defective O2 sensor? Can I disconnect it temporaly (lapping day) until I can get my new O2 sensor?

Just unplug the sensor and leave it in the exhaust stream, and the ecu will always run in open loop.

So I was able to get a brand new O2 sensor and I installed it in the morning. However, the hesitation of the motor is still there! Weird thing is my Proform shift light lights up everytime the motor hesitates. I have check the cap & rotor and everything is tight. What's the other possible problem. I have done a search and found similar O2 sensor problems but none have resolve my particular problem.

I ended up driving on the race track without the O2 sensor.
