You do it to create a flush fit between the head and block.

Decking the block is a process by which you make the surface that mates to the head (the deck) perfectly flat.

Milling the head is similar, sometimes people shave off a certain thickness to raise CR. Throws off your cam timing a bit when you do that though so adjustable cam gears are needed.

Decking is also a process used to increase deck highth, allowing you to use a longer rod or longer stroke.

Ah true, forgot about that. Is there any particular term for adding height to the deck or is any flattening of the surface considered "decking"?

Right now I am just dreaming. I would like to get a 95mm Eagle crank, Custom crower rods, custom crower pistons, and the 87mm bore(largest possible according to Golden eagle. But would also like a perfect rod/storke ration.

Would golden eagle still be able to sleeve the block with taller sleeves?

If you have a deck plate welded onto your block , you should take into consideration how sleeves are pressed into the block and use the inner side walls of the block to hold the cylinders in place. You would be putting alot of pressure on the deck plate because GE sleeves have that top rib that hold them in place. Am i making any sence to you guys? Do you see where I'm headed with what I'm saying. save your self the troube and try to get one of the Dart/payn blocks with the increased deck height allready installed. Also you better take into consideratin the fact that you are going to have to do alot to get a good headgasket seal with a 87 mm bore, it doesnt leave any room in between the cylinders. Hope this isnt for the street.

I'm not sure why everyone's all excited about the Eagle cranks. You'd need a hell of a lot of power to worry about a Honda crank breaking.

Its not about the crank being stronger, its that the eagle crank has a 95mm stoke!!!!! Thats 6mm more then a b18a/b!!!!

makes it possible to make one BIG b series!!!!
