Default DC headers

Which one is better? DC 4-2-1 or DC 4-1 and what's the difference? Thanks.

4-2-1 tends to make more torque 4-1 tends to make more HP (top end)

Be more specific.

There are more differences than that.

There is no such thing as "which is a better header". Is not that simple. Each design is made for different set ups. If you have a high revving VTEC with good flow...then the 4-1 design is your best bet because it allows the most flow at high RPM. And 4-2-1 is more for mid range and low end torque which allows it to be great on street. It just depends on the engine set up you build... and apply the header accordingly. I plan on getting the JDM 4-1 since my engine wil make most of is power between 4.5-9K RPM. Hope that helps a little.

If I remember right... Nissans make the peak power at low and mid RPM then slightly dip right before redline. Hondas powerband increases all the way to redline if you have VTEC. If you have a LS just get the 4-2-1 design because B18B powerband is not the same as VTEC honda engines.

it doesn't really matter that much. i seriously doubt you could tell a major difference.

Your right.... you wont notice a difference. The header wont be utilized fully unless your engine is finely tuned or fully built. Most of these aftermaket headers make about 4-6 HP and theres no way you'll notice that, but add a CAI and a exhaust and you'll make maybe 10-15 Hp in a Honda.

I have a Matrixheader. Do you believe that DC sports really is that better a header than a Matrix to warrant paying about 150 dollars more for the same basic design. 4-2-1 2pc

even though they look the same..... they might not flow the same. I'm not sure what material Matrix uses, but DC headers are pretty good quality. There are better headers out there, but not at the same price as DC. Personally.... I've been looking for a header myself for my setup. I wanted the either Top Fuel, J's Racing, Spoon, or Backyard Special... but these headers are hard to find and in the end I decided to go with the JDM 4-1 DC. Just cant beat that price I guess.....

When looking for a header I look at three things, Cost, Quality, then HP gains.

Let's compare DC to Spoon. Spoon, High quality, Good Flow but costs a truck load. DC, low quality (I bought one a while ago and the quality was crap compared to other headers that I have examined), Good Flow and dirt cheap compaired to other headers. So, if you're building a top of the line Grand Touring race car every bit of HP gain is important where as if you're just building a street car (as most people here are doing) what difference will a few HP make? none. So if you bottom out, wreck your car or the header cracks (DC) you haven't lost that much money. You could replace the DC header three times for the same cost as a Spoon header.

and if the header cracks, you can always get repaired. Something I am having to do since I just noticed that my ceramic coated DC header cracked at the 1-4 tubes junction - not bad after over 2 years (40k miles) of service. Still one of the best hp/$ mods, IMHO.
