Do you have prep a Dart block before you put pistons and rods in???? or is it ready to go as soon as you get it???

you should only have to prep the accesories and gaskets everything else should be ready to go. all you would have to do is bore and hone your block to your specified pistons.

I think you can get them already bored and honed if you want, but yes you do have to install things like the water pump.

You need to prep them. Theres alot of machine flask from when they are cut that you should remove with a grinder. I also needed to re tap a few holes as they were not deep enough. If you want to run timming belt plastic you will also need to trim a small are on the outside of the block. If you really feel ambitious, the cooling holes on the deck surface dont match up perfect so you could use the grinder to fix that. You will also need to deck the block and bore and hone it.

I am speaking from personal experience as i have one in my car. I have abrand new tall deck for sale as well.

The blocks are lined honed already. The decks are finished within .004" max., usually .002-.003". We have made some machining changes in production:

Oil drainback is machined larger and deeper to fit gasket and heads. The Cometic gaskets now fit better.

Front dust cover area is now machined so the plastic cover now fits

Front oil drainback is welded and machined for sealing surface

Oil dipstick is .490" standard (larger than stock)

Thrust is welded on rear side for shim placement

It sounds like Kendall has one of our earlier blocks. We have been making improvements as running production changes, based on feedback from racers and engine builders. We always welcome any feedback you might have. Email me at gwold@dartheads.com.

Thanks,
Greg

Just wanted to point out the Dart has good customer service as well. Heck they(Greg) contacted me to see my progress awhile back. Glad to hear that you have made adjustments to the areas I pointed out.
