Default Damaged combustion chamber, rebuild possible?

I got this B16A2 head with two cracked valve guides and a damaged combustion chamber.

I want a 84.5mm c.c. bore and oversize valves (0.5mm intake, 1mm exhaust).

Can i use this head or is the head ready for recycling?

You cant really tell by the picture. But If it were mine, I would take it to a machine shop with the valves that you want and ask them if there is enough material left for the valves to seat. As long as the valves seat properly, the head is still good. You can clean up the damaged area with a small dremel tool or something. The only thing to keep in mind is that if you remove alot of material from the damaged chanber, your compression ratio for that cylinder will difer from the others. Honestly it wont make that big of a difference, I would keep the head.

EDIT: I jusr re-read that the guides were damaged. I dont have alot of experiance with honda heads, but if the guides are pressed in and replaceable, than the head is still good. Honestly I dont know how craked guides would affect it. Sorry, im not as helpfull as I was hoping to be.

I go to a CNC machine shop next friday. So every combustion chamber will became exactly like the other.

The loose of compression isn't a problem at all because i go f/i.

Can i run into any trouble if i let them remove the damaged area/1mm of the surface on every c.c.?

I think that there will be anough material for 1mm of material to be removed.

Would welding be a good idea?

Is there any special about the welding process or can anybody who can weld do it?

The head can be welded but more than likely your seats are going to fall out. This would require going to a reputable machine shop and have new seats installed. The gentleman that said your guides can be replaced is exactly right. They are a very tight press fit and can be driven out with the proper tool. Depending on if the head ever had the guides replaced before it is a good idea to cut snap ring grooves in the guides to prevent them from dropping if the interference fir is less than ideal. This is especially important on the exhaust side due to the extreme tmperatures. A cnc shop that does not specialize in doing Honda heads is not going to help you unless you want to spend big bucks for special fixtures. Your best bet like I said before is to go to a good automotive machine shop where everything can be done for you right there.

it's possible you can use it. replace valve guides, and u can even have someone like RLZ weld the CC and then reform it.

RLZ

I'm sending my head there. and it also has had two bent valves and slight combustion chamber damage and two cracked guideds. I got the guides replaced at a machine shop that does that kind of stuff, and buy honda valve guides. Did you break a rod too?
