D16z6 vtec lobe hits the head
i just bought a skunk2 cam for my z6 head. i was tightening down the cam caps when i noticed that everything was getting a little too tight. Upon further inspection i realized that the vtec lobes are hitting the head when you rotate the cam. ive never heard of this happening. Is this normal? Should i just notch the head?
I emailed them tonight. This is my buddy's car and I not to big of a D series guy, the VTEC lobe actually hits the casting of the head, I mean there wasn't much clearance to begin with but now there's none at all. I just want to know if notching the head is OK?
from personal experience---- the vtec lobe on the cam will hit the head due to casting differences and the larger than stock lobe size.
you will need to disassemble the valvetrain and grind away some of the head to get enough clearance. otherwise buy a cam with a smaller lobe.
