Vtec head is warped.. Can I modify another head to keep "vtec"?
So my car overheated, now the head has issues.. I can get my hands on some different engines, but they are all non-vtec..
I've heard that there is a groove for oil , and that is the only difference in the heads?... I'd rather covert one, than to spend half a day driving to the nearest wrecking yard, and paying out my as$.
Anybody ever done this or know about it?
Thanks!

if the head is that bad that machine shop can't resurface it then ill say the block is gone too. you might as well get one from hmo

if so^
just make sure to grab some adjustibale cam gears as when you mill the head it "offsets" the gears so to say.

I haven't ever heard of a head being milled enough to advance, or retard timing enough to matter. Usually the dizzy timing adjustment will fix any alterations you make by milling. I would just mill the head. Much easier than doing all the converting to make a non vtec head work.

thats ignition timing, this affects valve timing, when you bring the cam gear closer to the block, it can sometimes throw off cam timing by a few degrees, easy to adjust with a good cam gear, and the money for the cam gear is well worth of it, as you now have better compression
