Default d16z6 + vitara pistons?

like always, im planning out a setup again... i have been reading up on the vitara pistons, they seem like a hell of a deal...

i know they sit low in the D16, at TDC they aren't flush with the top. I curious what they do in a D15.

I know the c/r in a d16 setup is around 8:1... i think that would be good ONLY because it would be a bit more reliable than if it was up higher.

This is all going in a del sol, planning to be my daily driver...

Basically, i am trying to decide:
-if i should buy Vitara pistons, and if i do, what engine is best to work with?
-if the c/r is too low to be a daily driven vehicle, what pistons are next best? CP perhaps? cps are 484.90 with rings.
-does lower c/r mean more reliable when boosting? hoping for ~250hp, and i think at 8:1 compression ratio, i should be able to hit that at ~15psi

just because there low compression doesn't mean they can support more power...as far as i know the vitara pistons ARE NOT forged. I would personally spend the 400-450 on some forged pistons with your choice of compression....yes its 300 more, but i would rather do it right once.

i have something along the lines of $5000 to spend. i'd like to spend less, but we'll see what happens there.

thinking d16z6 engine and tranny.
block honed
eagle rods
cp 9:1 pistons
ARP Head studs
KMS Block guard
new bearings in the bottom end
not sure what size turbo. want best daily driveability
stage 3 clutch
GOOD MANIFOLD. (still dont know what kind any reccomendations?)
johnnyracecar intercooler 6"
not sure what wastegate... (any reccomendations?)
uberdata
450cc injectors
apexi turbo timer
255lph fuel pump
decent blow off valve

i think i can pull that off.

dude for 5 g's you could have a sleeved d monster, do some more research. If I had 5 g's, I send my motor out to dan benson, 3'gs for bottom end, spend the rest on your tranny and turbo kit. 400whp easy. Susuki vitara pistons will not make 250whp on 15psi, thats about what our d's make on stock compression at 15psi.

for 5 grand. let me spend this...

-find someone elses already build block. you will probably spend ~$800
-turbo manifold, ~200
-T-3 ~150
-cca or johnny racecar IC ~200
-wastegate ~200
BOV~150
new clutch~250
injectors~50

and then build a head to match up to that
-head components~600

so there you are up to $2400 thats if you find deals, and do all the work yourself.
check out http://www.homemadeturbo.com
go to the forum, and look around there.
im homemade everything, so a budget is always on my mind. go from there...

this set-up would probably get you into the 13's, if you can drive it, tune it, and do **** right.

where are you from?

It all depends on the turbo what hp you make at what psi level..
