Default D16Z6 pistons in D16A6?

I'm going to be going in on Earl's group buy on CP Pistons and have a question. CP makes an 11:1 for the D16A6 and a 9:1 for the D16Z6... Thats the only options. Well I want 9:1 for my D16A6. I called CP and they say the 9:1 for the D16A6 would need to be custom made. Since Earl's buy only pertains to shelf pistons, I cant go with the custom ones. My question is can you use Z6 pistons in an A6? Or is CP correct and they are a different piston.

Thanks.

Funny, on Race Enginering's site they list 9:1 for the A6...http://www.raceeng.com/Pages/Page_5sc.html

They are quite a bit different. The Z6 piston has a very tall compression height and is heavily dished:

The A6 piston is not quite as tall and has a much shallower dish:

You can use Z6 pistons in the A6 motor since the Z6 is setup for larger valves. You won't have any problems there.

The only way to truly calculate your compression ratio though is to get all of the specs from the manufacturer (bore, compression height, dome/dish volume).

Bore= 2.953, compression height=1.181, dish volume=11.7cc (given to me by CP) using c-speed's calculator i get 8.2:1, is that right? discplacement came to 1590cc, so it looks correct.

Hey Sonny.. Like Shocker I am curious to know if the CP 9:1 slugs will work in my D16Y8.
