Default D16Z6 pistons???

has anyone installed D16A6 non-vtec pistons in a D16Z6 sohc vtec to raise the compression to 10.4 or close to that. Is there proper clearence for the piston-valves???

There will be plenty of clearance. The compression ratio will be between 9.9:1 - 10.2:1 (depending on which headgasket you use, z6/y8). Not a worthy piston swap IMO.

Where did you get those calculations???

I calculated about a 10.5-10.8:1 setup with just swapping in pistons.

p29 pistons still had plenty of piston to valve clearance....and that was > 12:1 CR

Doing the A6 pistons would deffainetly be a worthy swap...still run stock P28 ecu and with a cam and some headwork, will be a very reliable and quick setup on 92 octane

My D16Z6 with p29 pistons and a head that was milled .020 ran perfect. Pulled that block out after 2 weeks because it was pinging too bad at WOT and I was too poor at the time for management

A6 pistons would be perfect

i have them installed in my z6,but before i install them,i flycut them and mill the the dome .060 to take 3.2cc of the dome and get a 11.5cr.

my car runs fine with no pinging whatsoever, how ever if some one do not want to mill the domes, they can drop the cr a litle bit by using a thiker gasket from cometic.
