Default D16y7 to D16y8???

I currently 28K on my D16y7, and its not even broken in yet, i love the engine... and its hard for me to think about parting with it.... but would it be smart to find a y8 vtec and swap it, or do a mini me... or keep it the same.... i'm gunna either turbo the y7 , or do a swap.... is there even a point to gettin the vtec engine... or just build the y7 up?

blah blah... let me know if I was running on...

their are some post about things like that. But if your going to turbo it, (greddy) then just get a y8 i.m. and then turbo kit, with new exhaust.

save you some money, in doing a mini me, or swaping your engine. but you should save for a b18c1. my 2 cents.

Well here, ill give you a senario, I can't afford a swap.... and maybe i will down the road in about 100K miles but junking a 28K motor in my opinion is just stupid, but building it up seems to be alot smarter... so.... I guess i should change my question... should I do the Vtec Swap(Mini Me) Or just buy pistons, rods, cams, port and polish......... ex... Then turbo in a couple months... most likely greddy kit/apexi

hmm if you can't afford a motor swap, watsup with turbo & build-up of y7 or y8? I hate my y7 being stock too, but i can't afford motor swap now and i don't wanna waste on turbo for a sohc. IMO

Look your on the right track. Never underestimate the power of the SOHC y8 or any SOHC for that matter. Once this type of motor is properly set-up with turbo or nitrous, it is fair game. Dont belive all the hype about swaps there good becuase you start with a bigger motor but then you also have added weight. The SOHC turbo create some awesome torqe and hp numbers. Work with what you got once you cant have any more power out of the SOHC then go for a swap.
