d16a6 crank in a d16y8?? will this work??
I have a d16y8 block that needs a crank. I also have a d16a6 with all internals. So I just need to know will the D16A6 crank work in the Y8 block just that the y8 block will accept the a6 crank? As far as I can see the bore and stroke are exactly the same, and the rods themselves are exactly the same....Im pretty sure?? I just need the crank for a turbo build and I don't wont to buy another crank for the y8. Whats the difference in the thrust washers, rod bearings and main bearings would I need to use or buy those for a y8 or a6 ?? In other words if I get some eagle h-beam rods and srp pistons for a d16y8 will they fit the d16a6 or just clear the valves ?? The deck height on all D16 blocks is the same........right??
So, If anyone sees any problems in this please let me know.
If anyone knows let me know.........thanks guys 1clean_ Ej

the d16a6 has a higher deck hieght than most other d series blocks, id phisically bolt the a6 in and clay the motor after you have asembled it to see if it works, happenes with all custom builds if youre not confrotable claying it send it to a machine shop
Ive been searchin everywhere and found this.......Ill put more on here as soon as I find them! IT sounds like it would work!!

So Ive been diggin and found out some stuff. Most all 89-91 d16a6 motors have 24mm snout and the 88 has a 22mm snout. I think the fastest way to see if you have a 22mm or 24mm snout crank.......is by the checking the crank bolt.....12mm is a 22mm snout crank and 14mm is a 24mm snout crank im pretty sure this is right!
I think the motor I got from my buddy is a 91 model. Ill have to see if its got a 12mm or a 14mm crank bolt. Ill also maser it to see if this info is right

yeah but the A6 block is basically the same, its still a 1.6 and unless I've heard it wrong is built much better than the Y8 block
I would just like to do the y8 don't ask me why I just have it in my head to build a y8 for some reason. But I can keep the A6 together if the y8 crank can be reused........I'm going to take it the machine shop to see if its junk or not......I hope its still good without haveing to use over sized bearings if so the A6 can stay together
