D15B7 Severe Smoking Issue HELP
I have a D15B7 I just recently installed in my EG and its smoking a lot...
I cant figure out this smoke issue. and it is driving me INSANE!
I mean it smokes a lot! Ill upload a vid as soon as my camera recharges.
At first I thought, well maybe valve stem seals, so I changed the head and head gasket, no difference.
Then I checked the compression, the lowest one read 163 psi, the rest were roughly 165-170... That's a little low I guess but not out of the question for a 14 (or so) year old engine and certainly not enough to cause this kind of smoke.
Then I thought maybe a leaky injector, so I changed out the fuel rail and injectors, same thing.
I thought maybe either the FITV or the IACV may be leaking into the intake somehow so I bypassed the coolant lines for those, still same thing.
I mean it smokes really bad. Im talkin, have you ever used Seafoam in an engine? You know how that smokes? that's what kinda of smoke I have... thick dense white smoke. FOG more like. Seriously, at night if I get on the freeway and get on it hard the fog is so dense out the back that the headlights in the mirror seem to dim behind me. Like if you have mosquitoes, I can do like a drive by for you and you wont have them anymore.
Its like a thick white smoke and doesn't really smell like oil or coolant either
My D15B8 had a serious case of bad rings and that was a different kind of smoking all together. Plus it ran like ***, like it was worn out, this one actually runs quite well. Though I'm still not completely convinced the timing is exactly right...
anyone else ever experience this issue? Have any clues? guesses?
I guess the next thing Ill try is swapping this intake out with my B8 one to see if that makes any difference.
Any help or suggestions you can offer would be most appreciated.

I would do a leakdown test to see if any coolant is getting into the combustion chambers some how.
Is the smoke for sure coming out from the exhaust, is it possible it's leaking onto the exhaust and causing the smoke?
Are you loosing any fluids at all?

Well,
After putting roughly 300 miles on the engine the smoke seems to have calmed down a bit. It seems now that the smoke is more in line with bad rings. I guess initially there was maybe some residual seafoam that took a while to finally work out, and maybe that was causing the freak smoke.
So this weekend I am going to take it apart and change the rings in it. I didn't think those compression numbers were too bad, but the rings are essentially the only thing left that I haven't changed out. It has to be the fix.
