Default d15b with d16a1 rods and pistons.

A friend of mines did a rebuild on his d15b block by installing a set of rods and pistons from a d16a1 teg motor(suppose to bump compression a few points). Problem is the rods are too long and the pistons are a few millimeters out of the block. Can he use back his original rods? if not what rod can he use form another motor.

u need the vx rods.

the wrist pin location differences are whats causing the problem. u cant use 1.6 rods in a 1.5

utilizing the right rods will allow the benifit of the a1 slugs to be seen.

OMG does even such a rebuild make sense? I remember throwing away good motors like that back in the day when i was into swaps!
But i guess do whatever floats your boat. Could you even feel that bump in compression your talking about?
anyway good luck in whatever you do
