Default d-series tranny of all generations

i plan on doing to things with 2 different d trans, one for my 02 civic and i was wondering if i can use some of the older gears to mix and match to a better ratio for my d17 (weight vs lack of power, will not go into forced induction as this is my daily driver) to be a little quicker and not go into the motor too much, and then i'm very curious as to what Bense did in the H2D with the f20b and will look into doing this myself once i sell my b-swap,

mista bones
bense

can the newer cable shifted tranny of the 01- 05 civic use gears from a 92-95 si tranny? or for that matter take advantage of the older gearset to match with the 4.4 of the newer tranny?
