D-series dunebuggy idea.
Tonight i was talking to a co-worker/friend of mine and i was telling him that. Since my swap i have a spare d-series motor laying around, and i've been thinking of rebuilding it, but it i do i want to have something to put it in. So we are thinking about puttting it in a dune buggy frame.
I'm thinking of building the motor up a little bit. It's a CX motor, but i was thinking of putting D16a1 pistons in it, and an A6 head with a reground cam. That's about all, but as far as the fuel deliver we were thinking of using a dual carb setup to avoid a wiring nitemare.
My question is what would it take to convert to a carb setup on this motor? Is the A6 head a good choice?
Anyways, let me know what you think.

i think it is a terrific idea.
for carbs a dual sidedraft set-up with either a TWM or fabricated manifold and perhaps a vacuum advance distributor from a first gen integra or a dizzi-less ignition set-up.
A6 head responds well to porting, camming and a good header. with carbs, and higher CR pistons the little engine will move.
go here and talk to people there, a lot of people have the carbs on their Dseries there and will provide the necessary information.

thanks...lotsa good stuff on there. I'm definitely registering there and starting my d-series build.
unless i buy a 50cc honda scooter instead then i'll be working on that and sell my d-block

This is kinda relivant.
If you dont want a sand rail you can get one of these d series powered monster trucks. Probably for alot more though

$17,900 maby they offer one without the engine for less.

No. The 1992-1995 CX motor is an 8 valve motor. Without valve cutouts on each piston for four valves, you are going to have some REAL problems if you try to run a 16 valve head (like the A6 head). Rather than changing pistons, why not just go for a 16 valve motor? It will be cheaper.

i'm going to be tearing down the motor anyways, to just the block. If i use the D16a1 pistons like i plan on doing i won't run into any problems right? I've been looking at my carb options, it should be pretty sweet...no wiring
