JDM b18c R timing issues. Please help!!!!!!
I am trying to setup my timing before I tune my motor again but I seem to be having some trouble that I need explaned.
I have the dist. in full retard (all the way toward the front of the car) and it is still reading a bit retarded from 16 deg. I was hoping to get it around 16 or advance it to 18. Why is it like this and can it be fixed without slotting the holes so I can move it more.
I have had it tuned before and we hit 203/136 but I need to do it over again as some changes have been made.
My setup consists of:
99 JDM b18c R
stock botton end with new rings
Toda B's
Toda springs
Toda timing belt
Toda cam gears
Spoon 2 layer headgasket
SS valves
p&ped head w/ 3 angle valve job
Precession 310's
DC sports jdm header
Hondata im. gasket
Hondata s200
If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

How is your valve timing? If it is outrageously off, this could cause such a problem. Remember that using different head gaskets (thinner or thicker), adjustable cam sprockets, and milling (which was probably done to a greater or lesser degree when you had your head ported) all affect valve timing. If full retard is only getting you a little retarded from 16BTDC, something is GREATLY advancing your exhaust cam. Which brings up another question. If full retard gets it only a little retarded from stock, why are you having a problem getting it to stock or a little advanced? The probelm you describe would only prevent you from greatly retarding your timing.
There was a little taken off the head during the p&p, very little. As of now my cam gears are set at 0/0. I have herd that if you take a little off the head and have a thin head gasket then this sets the cams around -1/-1. Maby I should put them both ahead to +1/+1 and see if that helps. what do ya think.
