nitrous?...or all motor? safer?
first off, i have a motor, built it for all motor, consists of:
type-r motor, 12.5:1 compression, 85mm bore, forged pistons, p/p head, TWM 50mm ITB's buddy club4 cams. question was, with proper tuning, is it safe to squeeze on a motor with such high compession, and forged pistons. ive heard different things, but need professional advice. opinions?..this motor has over 10k in it, and ide hate to go blowing it up. hahaha. i was thinking of doing a 65 shot, and a little sneaky sneaky bottle. ive searched, and havent really found anything specific for my setup. some say its best to ahve forged pistons, and spray, some say you can blow holes through them?..BTW: i have probe i-beam rods as well if that helps any?..
OPINIONS?
thanks!

Of course NA is going to be more reliable than when adding nitrous on top of the exact same setup. Spencer (BoredNStroked) had his 2.0L ~10:1 LSVTEC on 150 shot last season and blew it up because of a faulty progressive controller. We tuned his setup extremely conservative with Hondata but as you can see, anything can happen. You're talking higher compression with less nitrous but it still balances out. Either way for what you're talking about, you're going to need the gas and tune for it to work. Personally I'd just stick to NA or build a turbo motor...

what did you make with that setup?
whos your tuner?
what system did you use to tune the car?
do you want to run 93-94oct when running nitrious ?( its gonna be hard)
can you get 100oct+ in your area ??(much safer)
but you cant be running 100+ all the time plus its alot of money $6+ a gallon

Why not just drop the compression a bit to be safe? 10.0-11.0:1? Oh and yea, $4.30/gallon isn't that expensive for race gas so I wouldn't start bragging... Try running straight C16 on a street SFWD/T4 car, it'll run you twice that a gallon.
The pistons should hold as long as you can avoid detonation, im not running that high of a compression but im going to go for a 100+ shot direct port on my setup and it doesn't differ that much from yours. You should be fine, I've been told that nitrous and compression are very compatible with each other when tuned properly.

Correction Adam....It was 10.5 cr and a 175 shot. Anyway it ran awesome with the hondata but the progressive controller didnt agree with the hondata for some reason ending up in a enormous intake manifold backfire. I never got a decent run down the track but I managed mid 11s at almost 130. If I still had the time I would still be racing that setup. BTW I had no problems with a single stage 125 shot running high 11s at 120ish.
