I believe there the sensors are in different locations on the OBD2 vs. OBD1 engines.

The other sensor is on the oil pumps outer casing, it the CSFS. OBD2 cars have both sensors, but the CSFS only measures the rotational crankshaft speed.

CSFS = Crank Shaft Fluctuation Sensor

Doesn't measure speed, it measures vibrations

Are you sure it measures vibration?

I always thought the CKF (Crankshaft Fluctuation Sensor) was used to monitor crankshaft speed to detect misfires. If there was a misfire, the crankshaft would have SLOWED down, the sensor reports this to the ECU, and upon looking at the distributor siganls, it will also know which was the offensive cylinder.

Anyone else have info here?
