cylinder honing?
i have a 95 gsr with 69k miles on it i wanna swap jdm b16 pistons and head on it. will i need to hone the cylinders? is it hard? can i do it myself? if not how much would it cost?
no it shouldn't need to be bored. bore the cylinders if there are any deep scrachtes on the cyl. walls. deep enough to catch a finger nail on when you run you fingers along the walls. scratches that you can see but not feel only need to be honed.
autoparts stores sell a cyl honing tool that attaches to a drill. all you need to do is use some automatic tranny fluid to help lube the walls and then use the drill and the honing tool in a up and down motion to hone the cyl. clean walls thoroughly and make sure you clean the crank also if it is gonna still be installed.
