Cv axle/transmission play?
Not sure of the proper terms to use but basically if you grasp the large end of the cv axle that goes inside the transmission on the passenger side it has some up and down movement that seems a little excessive to me but the driver side doesn't have much at all. It doesn't leak any fluid or pop out of gear. I am going to be replacing the passenger side axle soon because the outer boot it ripped and making a huge mess. Could the axle just be worn to cause this or do I have a more serious issue going on?

Yeah I don't really notice any of those things. I'm replacing my input shaft bearing this week and just didn't know if it was something I would also need to replace while I had it taken apart.
I gotta be honest I don't think i've ever seen play like that. Since you're going to be replacing the axle anyhow, obviously you'll see if the new one has the same play.
When you have the case open, check if the differential has any play at the bearings. You can grab the differential and try to wiggle it. It should be fairly tight.

Yes this is what my 05 civic lx is doing right now. I hear a snap sound when I hit the brakes coming from the RF, and also over bumps and pulling out! Snap snap sound since I bought it, and could find nothing loose as in the ball joint or bushings etc! 229k worn out carrier bearings I just found this movement today sadly. It's gotten much worse over time.
