Axle question
I have an axle question I'm hoping someone can answer, I need to replace the boot on the inside CV joint on my drivers side axle (B18C1) Q is, how do I remove the three roller carrier thing on the end of the shaft? is it just pressed on there? is there a circlip holding it on? will a gear puller be able to get it off? Any help from people who have done this would be very much appreciated.
Thanks!
Mike

You can get a remanufactured axel at Napa (and probably other places) for $80 + core. All new bearings and boots, all sealed, all assembled, just drop it in. If you've pulled axels before, it's about a 30 minute job. That would be my recommendation.
Im a bit confused by your description. The driver side has an axle that goes into a half-shaft. The halfshaft then connects the axle to the tranny. You would be separating the axle from the halfshaft to replace the axle or boot. Use a prybar or hit the axle end with a hammer at an angle and it should eventually come out.

Thanks Steve! that's exactly what I needed to know.
Yes I could just but a new axle but i'm cheap, I have a speare boot, and I had to modify these axles to get my ABS brakes to work and it was a pain in the *** that I don't care to repeat.
