any write-ups on CV shaft replacement?
I need to replace my CV shaft on an 89 civic 4 dr. Looks pretty simple, but if there are any write ups on it, I'd like to check it out before I dive in. I'm more familiar with solid axles. Thanks.
Well it's not that hard....need a big axle nut socket....need to disconnect the lower ball joint so the suspension has play...take of the fork. Pull the axle out from the intermediate shaft, DON'T pull at the CV boot or you will rip it apart. It's fairly simple. The new axle is usually a biatch to get into the axle hub.....really tight fit...once you get thread use the axle nut to get it the rest of the way through.
