Default cutting valve cover

when i cut the valve cover on my b16 for cam gears....is there any chance that the beltmight come off the gears....or should i try to cut it so that i can still adjust the cam gears but its not cut all the way to the top??

The cover does not help keep the belt on.It only keeps junk out of the gears/belt.

if the belt moves off then it would rub on the valve cover and eventually break it, or wear it down real bad.And if it actually did move of the tooth that also means that its out of alighnment so then you would check the tensioner and see why.So no it will not come off just by cutting the valve cover.

what i would do is cut big circles with a hole saw just enough to adjust them because I cut the whole side off once and a rock took a big gash out of the timing belt and damaged the water pump pulley that s just my advice

yeah thats kinda what im scared of...now i know that it is unlikely that a foreign object will enter my motor bay...but there is always that chance...like u said im gonna cut it only as far as i have to...i think that way it will lessen the chance of something gettting caught up in there
