Top timing belt cover
Ok, so I see a lot of people taking off their top timing belt cover and tbh I like the way it looks being able to see the cam gear. So, my question is, is this safe? I don't see why it would hurt anything, but any input would be appreciated!!!

Re: Top timing belt cover
alot of peole take the top cover off. i just built a mini me and my y8 head cover wont match the d15 bottom cover. So i ended up taking the top and bottom off. Just gotta be careful for rocks. I guess your more liable to get something in there and have it bounce around with just the top cover off

I have cut the valve cover (portion covering the cam gears) before and totally removed the timing cover. No issues to worry about. Anyone who tell you otherwise obviously don't know how to wrench on cars, especially Hondas.

Re: Top timing belt cover
On my old gsr swap I didn’t have a top and lower cover. And the valve cover was cut where the cam gears went. Haven’t ever thought about cutting my single cam valve cover. I can see where that would make it look better.

On single cam engines, the cover (over the cam gear) can be removed without cutting.
