Cutting Springs..
When people say that they're going to cut their springs instead of buying new ones, what does that mean?? Are they literally going to cut the spring itself and take it off the shock?? Or do they mean just cut out a portion of the spring?? And when this is done, what are the Cons behind it??
cutting stock springs are dangerous as hell.. too low and you've got blown shocks.
ive never done it, but common sense..comon.. the ride is absolutely ****.
just think.. you take a spring that is engineered to be that exact length on that exact car. then cut the spring and it completely screws the suspension design/balance to whack!!

cutting springs is a cheap way to lower your car. be careful not to cut too much coz ride will suck big time. Back in the day everyone had cut springs here. You can purchase used springs uncut for cheap nowadays
You know when your driving down the highway and some idiot behind you car is bouncing so much it looks like hes flashing his brights at you??Most likely cut springs. Dont do it buy some Goldlines or some ****
Please don't cut your springs. Cutting springs are a thing of the past. You can get Neuspeed Sports for about $125 + shipping these days. Do yourself a favor and buy some Eibach, Neuspeed, or any of those other brand springs. Cutting springs also messes up the spring tension.

Any spring or coilover will kill the shock if you go too low or have spring rates that are too high for the shock. Coilovers will give this "shitty" ride because they have linear rates. This means the whole spring is one rate. Lowering springs usually have progressive rates. This means the spring rate progressively gets stiffer. Progressive rate springs will feel closer to stock because the lower rate part or the spring takes care of all of the bumps in the road so they aren't as harsh. The higher rate part helps keep the suspension stiff in turns so you can have fun too. The only drawback is that they will never handle as good as linear rate springs. Linear rate springs are for those that want more performance, rather than looks. Although if you don't mind the "shitty" ride, coilovers can be used for looks also. I have Ground Control's with KYB GR-2's. I like the way my car feels. I would suggest using KYB AGX's or Koni Yellows. I am going to GC's with 450# in front and 500# in the rear for auto cross. It's all what you want to do with your car. HTH
