custom exhaust... what to do and what not to do ??? + ideas...
ok
i will be doing my own custom exhaust if i cna find a dam mandrel bent shop near my place..
i will be using alumized steel for weight and price ...
the car won't see winters..mainly race/summer car after this summer..
the stock one will need to be replaced soon neway ..
so ..i was first thinking of copying the MUGEN twin loop design ..
though the twin loop itself proved to be a challenging part to custom made
ahah
i know that strait through N1 style muffler provides the best performance..
and are a lot easier to build ..
then i saw the new MUGEN exhaust for S2k ..

they claim that is has the MUGEN sound..and his really quiet as low operation as are most of the mugen exhaust/muffler
but this one is a N1 style design ..the only diff with the other mugen exhaust is the enormous RESONNATOR ahhaha
looks funny
but ...mayeb this is the key..i know that resonnator le the gazes inflate and thus trap some of the sound ... does it reduces the flow of the gazes ?
i think that this type of muffler would be fairly easy to repruduce and lot cheaper than tryin to do a complete twin loop system. .
what do u guys think ?
ok and keep in mind that what i research is LOW NOISE with small gains spread all over the rpm .. mostly from 4500 +RPM
my car is a prelude 97
ah and also..
what is the perfect size for exhaust for NA h22a ...
60mm ?
2.5" ?

oh i forgot..
what to use inside the muffler ??
and where to get it ?
i know that there are som kinda screens to let pass the sound with some gazes..
and then some kinda deadening material ..
but what is it exactly??

Here's what I did on my Type R. I'm using a JDM DC Header, mated to a testpipe, mated to a 18" section of 2.5" piping that's hooked to a coast fabrication muffler (Indy Light Car muffler). Obviously, the exhaust empties under the car. It's very loud, but you mentioned that you might be racing the car. I really like the Coast Fab. muffler ... its really compact, lightweight, and flows straight thru. Just another idea for you. Here's a photo:

COOOL stuff man!!
hehe
mmm i'm not sure about not CAT though ..
and i don't wanna be pulled by the cops even though i do'nthave a flashy car and i never ride fast on the streets..well except for the highway ramps
ahah
mmm
i'll maybe go for no CAT ..hehe
i'll try it out to seewass the sound DIF ..
OR ..
mmmm
i could do a 2 resonnator setup ..
one at the cat's place and one at the stock resonnator's place..
mmm
that could be good ..not sure about the flow though..
never seen any exhaust with 2 resonnators
neither with resonnator that near to the header
bah until it keeps it quite and flowing ;p ahah
how much is this muffler worth ??
is it REALLLY loud ??
no i know what they use though in the mufflers..
it's CERAMIC CLOTHES ..
that'll make it easier to find some
eheh

ah also .. this is stainless steel exhaust nah ?
how muhc did u pay for the piping ?
i don't know the ITR's exhaust configuration..but u ahd to get some mandrel bent for it to pass ? like on the passenger side around the gaz tank ... how did it go ?
did u do it urself ?
tanx..

Yes, its all stainless steel. Paid about $250 for the muffler and 2.5" piping. It's very loud, especially in VTEC. Probably not the best set-up for a street -car. My car is a track car.
