Default CTR N1 pulley

i have asked a similar question before but i would like to know why so many people say this CTR N1 pulley breaks cranks because its not a damper like an oem gsr pulley, yet honda designed it for their rev happy civic type r.

i would like to know what people think about it being put on my 2.0L b18c turbo motor as well.

thanks, doug

It doesn't break cranks, they aren't dampened and cause vibrations when used on a motor that is not balanced. The vibrations cause the oil pumps to fail, as well as damaging the bearings. An ATI damper would be a wiser decision.

if it damages bearings and kills oil pumps then why is it used on the CTR?

it doesn't come factory on the ctr. the ctr comes with a regular 3 rib pulley.

they are fitted to their n1 race cars which have constant rebuilds after races, i had this argument with some one before, the oem pulley is a harmonic dampener. My bro had one on his ek4. stuart

Its made for the N1 race civic, which like ^^^ said is rebuilt after races. Its also built for a blueprinted and ballanced 1.6lt. Not a 1.8 or a 2.0.
