I dropped off my car to a shop thats known to work on Hondas to install my Crower Stage 2 cams, springs, and titanium retainers.
I get a call back saying that the keys and retainers keep falling off when they're trying to do the install. The guys asks me if I got the right retainers( I check and they're the right part #).
BTW, the install is with the cylinder head still on the motor. They used compressed air in the cyl to keep the valves up.
Has anyone come across ANYTHING like this before ???
The car is a 94 Prelude VTEC

have them check with the stock retainers to make sure that the holes in the center are the same size as the ti-retainers........if there not better get on the phone with crower and tell them your issue.......
I saw crower ret being installed and the guy was using some sort of cylicone (sp) to make sure the keepers would stay in place.
i've seen that too........they usualy use some kind of think grease to kinda hold it in place......

Thanks for the input guys....I know its a bitch to get at the springs/retainers on a Prelude VTEC head (they're real deep down). I heard its hard to change them without taking the head off. He was probably giveing me some lame excuse.

ur mechanic is definitely a moron. to place the retainers in there, i "magnify" a long flat blade screwdriver, adjust the valve spring compressor so i just just barely squeeze the keeper onto the valve. the oil thats already on the valve will hold the keeper in place.
