CRAP ! Trans/clutch problem ?
Alright up until today my clutch/trans has never given me any problems. But today after I pulled out of MC Donalds I grinded the gear alittle (seriously) going into 2nd. . . then shortly after it was tuff to go into all other gears. When I came to a stop, put my car in nuetral, then went to leave again it wouldnt shift into ANY gears. I finally FORCED it into 2nd and took off. Then rest of the gears would engage but reluctantly. After I came to a stop to park the next time the car REALLY wouldnt go into any gears even when trying to force it. When the car is shut off it'll shift perfectly, just not when it's in nuetral going into gears while the cars running. Sorry so long just trying to paint a very clear picture of what has being going on. I'm pretty sure it's the clutch or throw out bearing. Anyone know for sure?!?
well a somewhat well respected car enthusaist told me that I could check to see if my clutch was bad by driving 30mph then shifting into 5th and flooring it. If the revs climb fast like your in nuetral then the clutch is supposed to be bad. I did that and it acted normal . . . slowly accelerating.
Someone save me $400 ! ! ! I'm stumped

you could very very possibly have bent one of the tabs on the main changer...there are three of them. i say this because you are having trouble shifting into any gear and from my two experiences this was the cause. there are three fingers that move the three forks. i have bent one of these from trying to "force" a tranny to shift when it wouldn't. one tab bent and it interfered with moving the other forks. if you didn't have any clutch problems right before this then i would call this out as your problem. good luck and hope it's nothing too bad for you.

Hydraulic clutch? Bleed it. There's a chance it's just air in the lines.
Throw-out bearings make noises when they go bad, but they don't usually make the clutch drag.
If the hydraulics are OK, dragging clutches are usually from either a warped disk or something broken in the disk or pressure plate.
I think bent tabs on the main changer, bent shift forks, or stuff like that would also make it hard to shift when the engine's not running. It shifts OK then, right?

I think my an unsprung ACT (its a HD/SS). I'll try to bleed it and check the trans fluid level. I think I'm gonna have to order the clutch anyways so if I crack the case open and it is the problem then I'll have it on me. Thanks guys
what happened with this?? Im having the same problem with an additional symptom. Im getting a whining noise when I am coming to a stop with my clutch disenguaged. sounds like your tranny is probably about to go to hell...broken bearing and then your gonna have a busted final drive ring and/or pinion and lots of teeth floating in your tranny. i wouldn't suggest driving on that thing anymore.

I had something similiar to your problem, my shifting got worse and worse until I could not shift anymore. It turned out I had a flywheel bolt backed out.
Something to chec out.

I tore down the tranny and cheked the the clutch/pp. The fingers were worn pretty bad then I also found the pilot bearing to be blown to a million peices. So I put in a new Action 2MD clutch and bearings and everything has been good since.
I had the exact same problem in my del sol with an LS VTEC. I dropped the tranny and found that the pressure plate was bad. The supports on the inside of the pressure plate broke and was not allowing the clutch to fully disengage. After replacing the clutch car shifts just like new.
