crank pulley damaged, need to replace?
here is the situation...
i cant think of the proper wording for this issue, but here goes...
the crank pulley on my motor is dicked up. the outermost ring wall is chipped, so it's useless, the belt will just slide off. i dont plan on using my AC anyways, so its no big deal. but since the pulley is chipped pretty bad, its going to throw the balance way off. could i just file whats left of the ring wall, or just hack some of the ring off? im getting the bottom end balanced, but would filing or hacking part of the AC ring off kill the dampning effects of the pulley? or am i better off trying to find a new one to replace the whole unit?
thanks!

i think you'd be fine filing it down and having it rebalanced as the rubber dampener is between the inner two rings opposed to the outer two.. then again just think about the cost to have it filed/balanced. i found a used pulley in perfect condition for $25.. it'd prolly cost about the same if not more to fix yours.. i'd personally pick up a new one but i think yours can be fixed..
