Crank pulley balancing
I have a crank pulley that has a couple of small chips in the outer 2 belt positions. I only need the alternator belt, so I was thinking about machining off some of the chipped material.
If I did it, how would/could/should I check the balance afterwards?

If your motor is apart I'd say mount it on your crank and put it on a electronic harmonic balancer. If your gonna go to that trouble, go ahead and mount your flywheel and pressure plate to zero-out the whole assembly.
But is there a way to balance the pulley alone? It looks like it is balanced from the factory because it has a balancing hole drilled in it.
