Default Cracked sleeve..........

Just pulled my head to do a headgasket on my STOCK 95 CX civic hatch.......

On Cylinder #1......ok this is hard to explain........

So if you looking at the sleeves from the top of the motor, and pretend the sleeve is actually 2 parts. The circle from in cylinder to the middle of the sleeve. and then the second part is from the middle of the sleeve to the coolant area.

I have a crack from the second area(coolant area) to the middle of the sleeve.

Then between the 2 sleeves part, I have almost a 2 tenths gap between them for about half a inch in length

I hope you understand this.......

Should I worry about this?

ok my machine shop guy who is a honda guru (also installed dart sleeves for honda)

Told me the sleeve delaminated itself. I should get a new block.

Stuff i forgot to ask and they are closed.

- Since the inside part of the sleeve isnt cracked, wouldnt the headgasket still seal it? and for how long? would there be any long term affects on it?

I would not worry about the small crack behind the sleeve. A re-sleeve job will fix that right up, no problem.

yes, but i dont want to resleeve it. i want to know if i can throw a new headgasket on it, with leaving that sleeve how it is, and will it burn coolant? and be a waste of my time?

If the sleeve is cracked and leakin into the cyl. you will brun coolant. You car will run, but not very well... Depends on how bad it is. post a pic.

im having the same problem, the cylinder is not cracked all the way through, its looks perfect on the inside where the rings touch, the crack is on the outside, where the coolant touchs, the sleeves look like they are 2 pices.
