Default CR-VTEC ?????????

I hear a lot of people talking about these b20 engines and im just wondering is there any advantages/disadvantages of having this engine? I "heard" that you get a lot of torque and hp and its very fast. I ask someone who use to have a b20 motor and now is using a type r motor.....and i asked him "how come you switched to a type r motor wont you get more hp and torque from the b20"? and he said " well the type r motor is better tuned or something i forgot...well can someone inform me a bit more.....thanks

I was going to post a link here for why you shouldn't go w/ an LS or CR-Vtec motor, but HT won't let me. It keeps turning a part of it into a smiley face...

If you want the link, IM me.

Simply put, the B20 is not well suited for high RPM action because of the short rods with the long stroke. The upside to the long stroke is the high torque at lower RPMs, however, to make good power from small displacement engines, you must turn the kind of RPMs that the B20 is not well suited for.

I'll agree with part of that. But it does make great power all the way to 8k even with a stock head. The real key to these setups is crank case ventilation, proper engine management, and cam choice (very key). I've got one making 197whp with close to 150 ft/lbs of torque, all with a stock head and TB.

With CRV Vtec you will have a 2.0 instead of the LS which is a 1.8 but, the problem is you can't use any other pistons you have to use the stock ones. But, the Ls is just as good as the CRV. They push out pretty much the same amount of torque.

What are you smoking!?! That is like saying the B16 and the B18 push about the same torque!!! ROFL, strait forward people are building the B20's for the torque and the adding VTEC for streetability. Want proof look into HXGuy's treads......of course out of the box the B18C5 (Type R) is going to be faster but, if you want a comfortable daily driver get the B20.....if you want a power house that you don't mind spending money on.....Take the B20 bottom end build it then add either a B16 or Type R head. Torque is what you need to win races.
